FoodTrack by Maersk

Recap of Edition 1

It was a great experience for everyone involved – we all learned something new over those weeks and it ended with a very exciting Demo Day where the 10 startups pitched for an investment by Maersk Growth.

Peter Jorgensen, FoodTrack programme director and VP at Maersk Growth

FoodTrack by Maersk gave participants the opportunity to strategically reflect on the capital needs of their business, in order to frame an investor-friendly message and take their company to the next level.

Eduard Puig, FoodTrack Mentor

For me it was useful to get the insight of these experienced industry professionals into the technology and service we seek to deliver. Our thinking about retrofitting reefers into ColdHubs 2.0 came from the Speed Meetings

Nnaemeka Ikegwuonu, CEO of ColdHubs

FAQs

Who can apply?

We are looking for startup teams working on technologies and new business models that reduce food loss in the earlier stages of the food value chain—from harvest to distribution. Technologies we’re particularly interested in are food preservation, logistics and supply chain optimisation, sensing IoT and data monitoring, storage and packaging solutions, as well as farm management systems. What is not a key topic for us are topics such as innovative food, breeding and genetics, and B2C solutions.

Does it cost anything to participate?

The programme is equity-free: we will not charge you anything other than your complete dedication and full-time commitment for its whole duration.

Can we apply only with an idea?

In order for us to help you to get the most out of the programme, we are looking for startups that have developed at least an MVP (minimum viable product).

Where will we live during the programme?

During the programme you will live in Copenhagen. You can join the programme with maximum 4 team members. Maersk will provide a grant to cover travel and accommodation costs for 2 founding members (CEO inclusive) for the duration of the programme.

What happens after I apply?

Our scouting team will read through applications on a continuous basis and provide feedback on your application as soon as possible.

We will notify the selected teams in ~3 weeks after the application closes on September 30. Selected teams will need to arrange travel and accommodation themselves and the expenses will be covered by the travel grant.

By applying for the programme we expect you to be available to travel to Copenhagen by November 14 and stay in Copenhagen until December 14.

Are there geographical restrictions?

No. We are open to startups from all over the world.

What happens during and after the programme?

You will spend a month at the Maersk Growth office in Copenhagen participating in an intensive full-time programme during which you will receive intensive support and guidance from the programme team and the best mentors from both Maersk and the Rockstart network. The programme is divided into four steps that will lead you through your validation process close to the industry and prepare yourself for exponential growth: problem-solution fit, competitive advantage, growth strategy and on stage. It also includes a component focused on team development.

At the end of the programme you will have the opportunity to pitch your business to Maersk for potential investment.
